NATO Secretary’s Warning to China About Military Aid to Russia

Jens Stoltenberg, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has warned that sending lethal weapons from China to Russia in the Ukraine war would be a historic mistake for China.

He stated that such an action would have very serious consequences.

Mr. Stoltenberg, speaking in Brussels, added that the Chinese government has refrained from explicitly condemning Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and the two countries have even signed a cooperation agreement.

The NATO Secretary General’s speech coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to China to meet with Chinese leaders.

The French President stated in Beijing that China could use its relations with Russia to help end the war in Ukraine.

In recent weeks, the Chinese government has positioned itself as a potential mediator to end the Ukraine war, but has not yet presented a specific plan that would be negotiable for both sides.

It is said that after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, China sold some non-combat military items to Russia.
