The Israeli Prime Minister on the eve of a new round of ceasefire talks in Gaza accused Hamas of being stubborn in negotiations and called for increasing pressure on this group.
Benjamin Netanyahu said in a cabinet meeting on Monday, August 18, that Hamas has not even sent representatives to the negotiations in Doha so far, so pressure should be put on Hamas and Yahya Sinwar, the deputy of Ismail Haniyeh and head of Hamas’s political office, not on the Israeli government.
He stated that Tel Aviv has entered into very complex negotiations and that there are some issues where flexibility can be shown and some issues where there is no room for concessions. We know well how to differentiate between these two.
Netanyahu believes that there are principles that are vital for the country’s security and must be adhered to.
The new round of ceasefire negotiations will resume this week in Cairo.
