New Charges Filed Against Narges Mohammadi
Narges Mohammadi, a civil rights activist imprisoned in Evin Prison, has reported new charges being filed against her and a new case being built. She says that the Evin Prison office has informed her of 8 charges in the recent case.
She informed her family and lawyer that on Tuesday, April 25th, she was summoned to branch 2 of the public prosecutor’s office in district 33 but refused to go to the prosecutor’s office.
According to Ms. Mohammadi’s family, on Wednesday, April 26th, Haji Moradi, the investigator of branch 2, along with two others, went to the women’s ward to inform her of the charges. They were met with her strong protest and refusal even for the charge briefing, and the investigator left the ward office without informing her of the charges.
It is said that over the past two months, Narges has been summoned twice to branches 1 and 2, but she has refused to go to the prosecutor’s office.
Ms. Mohammadi, a human rights activist and political prisoner, has been imprisoned multiple times in recent years. Since November 2021, she has been serving a 30-month sentence on charges of propaganda against the regime, staging a sit-in at the prison office, disobedience to the prison authorities, breaking windows, and slander.
