New historical records set for the dollar and euro in the Tehran market

The open market price of the US dollar increased by 400 tomans (4,000 rials) in the morning trading session on Tuesday compared to Monday’s closing rate, rising to 60,400 tomans (604,000 rials).

The previous historical record for the open market dollar was set on February 26, 2023 (Esfand 7 of the previous year), when it reached 60,150 tomans, although by the end of trading that day, the dollar had fallen to 58,000 tomans.

Before the October 7 (Mehr 15) attack by Hamas on Israel, the open market dollar was 49,800 tomans, but with the onset of the Israel-Hamas war, it began to rise. Thus, over the 5 months since the start of the Israel-Hamas war, the open market dollar has strengthened by more than 21% against the Iranian rial.

Each euro was also traded up to 65,550 tomans on Tuesday morning, a rate considered unprecedented in the Tehran market.
