New Restrictions on VPNs Caused Internet Slowdown

New restrictions on VPNs have slowed down the internet.

In the past week, many users have faced difficulties connecting to their VPNs and cannot use them, despite paying hefty monthly fees for their purchase.

Some experts, in conversation with the Sharq network, state that the infrastructure has implemented new restrictions to prevent users from accessing VPNs, which ultimately has led to reduced quality and slower internet.

Amirhossein Dehghan, a technology expert, confirmed this new development in a conversation with the Sharq network, explaining that the Communications Infrastructure Company started disrupting some protocols used in VPNs about 10 days ago, which has severely impacted the quality and speed of the country’s internet.

He mentioned that the infrastructure is currently limiting the filtering system, thus causing disruptions in protocols like TLS, which also affect protocols like SSH and HTTPS.

He continues, besides these issues, for a few days now, the upload speed has significantly decreased. Even on the SpeedTest software, which is also noted by the Ministry of Communications and tests through servers outside the country, the upload speed has shown a significant drop compared to the past on the operators.
