Niknejad: The Ministry of Education’s lawsuit against the Tehran Snake series is a populist move

The Ministry of Education has filed a lawsuit against the Tehran Snake series, claiming it insults the role of teachers. This government action against the series has had the opposite effect on social media. Following the news of this lawsuit, a significant number of users on Twitter began sharing negative memories of some teachers and their confrontational behaviors, which was also a form of opposition to the Ministry of Education.

Mohammadreza Niknejad, an education expert, told Entekhab regarding the Ministry of Education’s lawsuit against the Tehran Snake series, ‘They are not seeking to secure any rights for teachers through this lawsuit. No one believes these actions. Anyone familiar with the educational environment and its numerous challenges and deadlocks sees this issue as beyond laughable. The Ministry’s move was a populist action. In the first few hours of this news, a buzz was created on social media, and most teachers were unaware of this matter. Now, the general atmosphere among proactive teachers on social media and in schools, as always, is criticism of the Ministry of Education. The Ministry itself oppresses teachers.’

He commented on the changing societal conditions and views on teachers, saying, ‘I am against the lawsuit. Our world is one of desacralization. Teachers, parents, clergy, none of them are sacred by virtue of their job or position. With the expansion of the internet and information, teachers and families are no longer in the position of absolute knowledge, and this position used to create sanctity.’
