Now is not the time to continue nuclear negotiations
A recent interview of Hillary Clinton with Christiane Amanpour, where her remarks about Russia and its crisis of aggression towards Ukraine were of utmost importance, has been at the forefront of Persian-language media due to her specific views on Iran and the current state of popular protests. However, her statements have not been correctly interpreted.
Hillary, as the former Secretary of State of the United States, during whose tenure U.S.-Iran interactions were shaped by the formation of special sanctions during the Obama era and her administration’s efforts to compel Iran to negotiate and limit its nuclear program, has experience dealing with popular protests following the electoral fraud in 2009.
In her interview, emphasizing the importance of the JCPOA and the irreparable damage Trump caused to the process of controlling Iran’s nuclear program, she mentioned the domestic protests in our country and stated that under the current circumstances, and considering the efforts of the Iranian people to claim their rights, if she were the decision-maker, she would not negotiate anything with Iran at this moment. She said that in a situation where people are standing against the repression of the Iranian regime, it is not right to openly show efforts to reach an agreement and understanding with Iran.
