The aim of the new U.S. visa law is to exert pressure on officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran and their family members and to prevent their entry into the United States

This bill has been introduced by Democratic and Republican representatives

This bill has been proposed by Joe Wilson, a Republican representative from North Carolina, Josh Gottheimer, a Democratic representative from New Jersey, Claudia Tenney, a Republican representative from New York, and Vicente Gonzalez, a Democratic representative from Texas, under the title of the 2022 Visa Revocation Act for Iran’s Mullahs and Leaders or the Regime Act

This bill asks the U.S. Secretary of State to review the presence of a wide group of Iranian officials, including members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the office of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic, and the police force, as well as their close family members in the U.S. It also seeks to determine which individuals from these groups have U.S. visas or have applied for them
