The Foreign Minister of Oman will not charge any fees for passing through the Strait of Hormuz

Badr Al-Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, announced that in future arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz, no fees or transit charges will be imposed on passing ships

He made these remarks during a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries with Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State

This stance is expressed while some Iranian officials had mentioned negotiations with Oman regarding the establishment of a monitoring mechanism and charging fees from passing ships

A day earlier, Oman had also introduced a temporary route for the passage of ships in the Strait of Hormuz

In response, the IRGC announced that only routes approved by Iran are valid for the safe passage of ships, and any other route introduced without coordination with Tehran is not acceptable from a security standpoint
