OpenAI’s report on the misuse of artificial intelligence by 4 countries
On Thursday, May 30, OpenAI, the owner and operator of the ChatGPT platform, revealed in its first report how the influence campaigns of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel, China, and Russia have used the company’s generative artificial intelligence to produce disinformation and spread lies.
OpenAI also announced that it has been able to disrupt these disinformation campaigns.
According to this detailed 39-page report, malicious actors used the company’s artificial intelligence models to create and disseminate propaganda content for their respective political systems on social media and to translate the generated content into various languages. The report claims that none of the campaigns succeeded in gaining significant attention or attracting a wide audience.
