Parham Maghsoudloo climbed to 14th place in the global ranking

Parham Maghsoudloo has climbed to the 14th position in the world rankings.

Parham Maghsoudloo, the great chess grandmaster of Iran, has made an unprecedented leap in recent weeks and climbed to the 14th position in the world rankings.

The number one position is held by Magnus Carlsen from Norway, and Alireza Firouzja, who plays for France, is in fifth place. Maghsoudloo achieved victory over Aravindh from India in the Grand Swiss competition to climb to the 14th position in the world rankings.

Parham led the Iranian national team to win the gold medal in the Asian Games in Hangzhou. His progress continues in the Masters Qatar and now in Grand Swiss. The 2018 World Youth Champion says his next goal is to be among the top 10 players in the world.

Maghsoudloo talked about the pressure of competitions, saying, ‘I have been playing like this since I was 12 years old, and it is normal for me. When you are young and energetic, you should take advantage of the opportunities. As you get older, you may not be able to participate in as many tournaments in a year, maybe five or six.’
