Parliament Member: The government should avoid repeating November 2019 in raising gasoline prices

Ebrahim Rezaei, the representative of Bushehr in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, on Wednesday, November 4, warned about Massoud Pezeshkian’s government plan to increase gasoline prices, saying we must be careful not to let some past disasters happen again.

The 300 percent increase in gasoline prices in November 2019 led to a wave of nationwide protests and an unprecedented crackdown on public demonstrations in the Islamic Republic.

While the official statistics of the victims of these protests have never been released, the Ministry of Interior of Hassan Rouhani’s government, confirming direct shooting at the heads and hearts of protesters, announced the death toll of the bloody November as 274 people.

Reuters news agency, quoting informed officials, reported that 1,500 people lost their lives during these protests.
