The Research Center of the Parliament finds that people consider the amount of subsidies deposited to be insufficient.
The results of a survey indicate that 60.6% of people have a negative opinion about the overall subsidy reform plan. The main reason for this is the increase in the prices of other goods that were not supposed to become more expensive under this plan. Considering this, it can be understood why 88.6% of people find the amount of subsidies deposited to be insufficient. Naturally, larger families are more affected by the economic pressure resulting from the price increases, which is also confirmed by the results of this survey.
Other findings from this survey show that the purchasing power of households for essential goods has decreased compared to before the implementation of the plan at the beginning of the year. According to the survey and people’s opinions, 58.5% of people prefer the government to supply seven essential goods at last year’s prices through vouchers, while 28.6% prefer a monthly cash subsidy of 300,000 or 400,000 tomans per person.
It is noteworthy that according to the survey by the public opinion institute, among those who preferred vouchers over cash subsidies, 56.2% stated that they would still prefer vouchers even if they could only be used in specific stores.
