Pezeshkian Called for Establishing an Independent Financial System to Counter Sanctions

Pezeshkian called for the creation of an independent financial system to counter sanctions

On Monday, September 7, Masoud Pezeshkian said in an extraordinary virtual meeting of BRICS leaders on the current state of the world that the increase in unilateral actions and the instrumental use of sanctions threaten global justice and stability and make sustainable development impossible.

He emphasized that BRICS can play a leading role in countering this worrying trend.

In his remarks, Pezeshkian stressed the need to reform global governance structures, create independent financial systems to counter illegal sanctions, and expand technological and environmental cooperation among members, and called for strengthening the voice of developing countries in the international system.

The BRICS summit is a meeting of the leaders of the member countries of this coalition, which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, and a number of other emerging economies.

BRICS was formed with the aim of strengthening economic, political, and technological cooperation and creating balance in the international system.
