There is a possibility of revoking the death sentence of Dr. Hamid Gharehhasanlou through the mediation of some officials like Velayati with the leader of the Islamic Republic.
Hamid Gharehhasanlou, one of those arrested during the nationwide protests in Iran in 2022, is a Gonabadi Dervish, a doctor, and a specialist in medical imaging. He was accused in the Karaj Revolutionary Court of murdering an officer during the 40th-day ceremony of Hadis Najafi in the city of Karaj. He and his wife, Farzaneh Gharehhasanlou, were severely beaten during their arrest, resulting in four of Gharehhasanlou’s ribs being broken.
The court charged this couple, along with 13 others in this case, with ‘waging war against God’ and ‘corruption on earth.’ None of the defendants in this case had the right to choose their lawyer, and they were defended by court-appointed attorneys.
According to received news, there is a possibility of revoking this doctor’s death sentence through Velayati’s mediation with the leader of Iran.
