A Premier League referee was suspended due to whistleblowing
The Ethics Committee of the Khuzestan Football Association suspended Abbas Raki, a referee working in the Premier League, for six months. The mistakes in officiating the Sepahan and Gol Gohar match were cited as the reason for this decision.
Regardless of the fact that neither of these teams are from Khuzestan, the authority to decide on refereeing issues in the league belongs to the Federation’s Referee Committee and is not related to provincial associations.
Raki, who is the head of the Izeh Football Association, says that his suspension is due to his criticism of the financial performance of Abdol-Kazem Talaqani, the head of the Khuzestan Football Association. He told IRNA that even if they no longer give me refereeing assignments, I will not back down and I will free Khuzestan football from captivity. He complained, issued the verdict, and also suspended me himself.
This Premier League referee emphasized that Talaqani has also filed a case against me in the Federation’s Ethics Committee, but my evidence prevented the Federation from summoning me and pursuing the case.
