Prescribing drugs outside the national list has been prohibited
According to the announcement from the Public Relations of the Food and Drug Administration, this organization is only obligated to supply drugs that are listed in the country’s official drug list or pharmacopeia.
In response to some complaints on social media about the unavailability of certain drugs, the Public Relations of the Food and Drug Administration noted that these are either single-prescription or travel-related drugs and announced that the organization is only obligated to supply drugs present in the country’s official list.
The Public Relations of the Food and Drug Administration explained the reason some patients prefer foreign drugs, even when a domestic version is available at a more reasonable price, stating that it is a cultural issue. Part of this relates to doctors who sometimes emphasize the quality of the foreign version more during conversations with patients, and another part is due to misconceptions in society about domestic products.
