Prince Sarin sentenced to prison

Emtedad News Agency reported on Thursday, August 9, quoting Ali Sharifzadeh Ardekani, the lawyer of Sarin Badiyi, known as Prince Sarin, about the issuance of a verdict in his case.

Mr. Sharifzadeh Ardekani told Emtedad that his client has been sentenced to 66 months in prison for incitement to corruption and obscenity, 36 months in prison for insulting sacred beliefs, 7 months and 16 days in prison for anti-establishment propaganda, and 2 years of travel ban and prohibition from online activities.

Prince Sarin’s lawyer says he suffers from bipolar disorder and for this reason, they will pursue his case through the Karaj Court of Appeal.

On April 25 of this year, the official news agency of the Judiciary of the Islamic Republic of Iran announced the arrest of Prince Sarin, labeling him as a blasphemer.
