Putin has messaged the leader of the Islamic Republic about a potential Iranian attack on Israel.
Reuters news agency reported from two senior Iranian sources that the Russian President has urged the Islamic Republic to refrain from civilian casualties in a possible Iranian attack on Israel.
Two Iranian officials, who did not want to be named, told the news agency on Wednesday, August 7th, that Vladimir Putin’s message was conveyed to the authorities of the Islamic Republic by Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary of the Security Council of Russia.
The report adds that Mr. Putin has called for a cautious response from Iran to the killing of Ismail Haniyeh, the former political office head of Hamas in Tehran.
The report further states, citing two Iranian sources, that Tehran officials in a meeting with Mr. Shoigu, the former Defense Minister of Russia and the current Secretary of the Security Council of that country, have also requested the delivery of Russian Su-35 fighter jets to Iran.
The Kremlin did not respond to Reuters’ inquiries on this matter, but the official RIA Novosti news agency of Russia has confirmed that Mr. Shoigu discussed the killing of Ismail Haniyeh during his recent trip to Tehran.
