Putin asked Russians to have more children

Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, said on Thursday that Russian families should have at least two children for the ethnic survival of the country, and if they want to grow, they should have three or more children.

He added that if the Russian people want to preserve their identity, having two children per family is the minimum.

He stated that if each family has only one child, the population will decrease, and for expansion and development, at least three children are needed.

Russia has experienced a gradual population decline since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

At the beginning of 2023, the population of Russia was estimated to be around 146 million, which is a decrease from approximately 149 million 20 years ago. However, this is an increase from the lowest figure of about 143 million between 2007 and 2012.
