Qalibaf: Diplomacy and the military field are two sides of the same coin

Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, head of Iran’s negotiating team, emphasized in his fourth audio message that diplomacy and military operations complement each other and both serve to ensure the country’s sustainable security.

Referring to recent tensions, he said the violation of the ceasefire and the continuation of the naval blockade have been key factors in the developments of recent days.

Qalibaf added that neither diplomacy prevents military operations nor do military operations prevent diplomacy. According to him, the aim of the negotiations is to end the war and create sustainable security, not to normalize relations with the United States.

The Speaker of the Parliament also stated that the military field, diplomacy, and serving the people are parts of a single body and emphasized that the Islamic Republic will continue to defend the rights of the people with strength.

Referring to the developments in Lebanon, he said the recent experience showed that the combination of military capability and diplomacy can force the opposing side to retreat.

Qalibaf also clarified that Iran’s strategy is to engage in war when necessary and negotiate when appropriate, and he warned that the naval blockade will also turn into another defeat for the enemy.

In conclusion, he said some individuals, in the name of following the leadership, act contrary to their policies.
