Qalibaf, in a call with his Lebanese counterpart, says the end of the war in Lebanon is part of the Iran-US agreement
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in a telephone conversation with Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, said that the end of the war in Lebanon and the preservation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of this country is an important part of the first clause of the Islamabad agreement between Iran and the US. He added that in last week’s negotiations in Switzerland, after the Iranian negotiating team raised issues regarding the violations of this clause, it was decided to establish a conflict control unit with the presence of Iran, the US, and Lebanon to monitor the implementation of this part of the agreement. Qalibaf emphasized that Iran’s goal is to end the war in Lebanon, return refugees, end occupation, and ensure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese soil, and Tehran is pursuing this matter seriously. Nabih Berri also, while appreciating Iran’s positions, claimed that Israel is trying to bypass the issue of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within the framework of the Islamabad agreement. Both parties also emphasized the need to hold a conflict control unit meeting as soon as possible to follow up on the implementation of the agreement and end the conflicts in Lebanon.
