Quarantine of cruise ship passengers due to cholera outbreak

More than three thousand people on a cruise ship near the island of Mauritius in East Africa are in quarantine due to a cholera outbreak.

Mauritius authorities on Sunday, February 25th, did not allow the Norwegian Dawn cruise ship to dock at the port of Port Louis, the capital of this country, after some gastrointestinal illnesses were observed on the ship.

Southern Africa is currently experiencing one of the most severe cholera outbreaks in recent years.

At least 14 crew members of the Norwegian Dawn, which began its journey from South Africa, are suffering from diarrhea and vomiting.

Health ministry staff took samples from about 15 passengers of this ship on Sunday morning, and the results of their investigations will be announced on Tuesday.
