Rafael Grossi: There is a possibility of damage to Iran’s 60% uranium reserves

The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency has stated that there is a possibility that Iran’s 60% uranium reserves in underground facilities, which were targeted in an attack last June, may have been damaged.

Rafael Grossi, in his statements, mentioned that he cannot be 100% sure, but based on the conducted assessments, this view is agreed upon among some sources. He warned that indirect evaluations are not a substitute for precise physical inspections, and the presence of these materials poses its own specific risks. According to him, the amount of these reserves could be enough to build several nuclear weapons.

In contrast, Iranian officials have criticized the actions of the Agency and the Board of Governors, stating that after military attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, a specific mechanism for resuming inspections has not been defined.
