The spokesperson for Raisi’s government announced that using a VPN is a crime at an inappropriate time.

Ali Bahadori Jahromi, the spokesperson for the thirteenth government, stated on a TV program broadcast from Channel Three that announcing the criminalization of VPN use was a mistake made at an inappropriate time. Apparently, he referred to the time close to the Islamic Consultative Assembly elections.

He also mentioned that the target of this decision was primarily governmental agencies, aimed at observing security issues and protecting data against hacking attacks.
