The Rastak Group was nominated for the Best World Folk Music Album

The International Folk Music Association has nominated the album ‘From Soil and Sun’ by the Rastak Group for the Global Best Album of the Year award.

‘From Soil and Sun’ is the first album by this group, produced and released after their migration from Iran.

The Rastak Group has sought to include pieces from various regions of Iran such as Baluchistan, Kurdistan, and Lorestan, as well as a piece of Afghan music in this album. This is their first experience in producing and creating after their migration from Iran.

The award ceremony will be held on January 21st, the first of Bahman, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.

Behzad Pournaghi, the manager of the Rastak Group, also announced the group’s participation in the Stockholm Folk Music Festival and said, ‘We will participate and perform on November 23rd at the Global Sounds Festival, which is a world music festival that often includes ethnic music from around the globe.’
