Rebel wrestler Ali Arslan rejected the offer from the Greco-Roman wrestling team of Stars.
The world champion in the 72 kg category of Greco-Roman wrestling did not accept the offer from the World Stars team to participate in the World Cup competitions.
The 2022 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Cup will be held on the 14th and 15th of November with the participation of six teams: Azerbaijan, Turkey, Serbia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, and the World Stars in Baku.
Hassan Rangraz’s students are grouped with Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, while in the other group, Serbia, Azerbaijan, and the World Stars will compete in the preliminary stage. The top teams from each group will become finalists, and the second-place teams will face each other in the ranking match.
Ali Arslan, who joined the Serbian national team last year after obtaining dual citizenship and won a gold medal for this team in the 72 kg category at the Belgrade World Championships, does not intend to participate in the World Cup. He received an offer to join the World Selected Team or the World Wrestling Stars but stated that he is not ready to compete.
Arslan said that if he intended to participate in the World Cup, he would accompany the Serbian team in these competitions.
