Chess referee removed for wearing a shirt with the slogan ‘Women’s Life, Freedom’
The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has banned Shahreh Bayat, an internationally recognized Iranian female referee, from officiating in international competitions for wearing a shirt with the slogan ‘Women’s Life, Freedom’
Shahreh Bayat confirmed the news on her Twitter account in English, stating that Arkady Dvorkovich, the President of FIDE, asked her not to wear another shirt with the slogan ‘Women’s Life, Freedom’
She claims that in the following competitions, she entered the venue wearing a blue and yellow shirt, symbolizing the Ukrainian flag, but the President of FIDE said she is an inappropriate referee
Bayat believes that this statement is a clear violation of her human rights
