Renewed Uprising of the Sadr Movement in Iraq

The Arabic Reuters news agency, citing some Iraqi security officials, reported that on Wednesday evening, clashes erupted between the Saraya al-Salam militia affiliated with the Sadr Movement and the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq militia affiliated with the Coordination Framework of Iraqi Shiites near the home of Adi al-Awadi, a member of the Iraqi parliament, in the city of Basra in southern Iraq. These clashes continued until this morning, Thursday, September 1, 2022. Four people were killed in these clashes, two of whom were from the Saraya al-Salam forces affiliated with the Sadr Movement. Currently, Iraqi security forces have brought the situation in Basra province under control.
