Repressions and death sentences in Iran are a great favor to Saudi Arabia
One of the beneficiaries of the recent harsh repressions in Iran has been Saudi Arabia. While Iran, like countries such as China and Saudi Arabia, has faced severe international criticism for issuing and executing death sentences for various crimes for years, the sentences issued in Saudi Arabia and the manner in which they are carried out have been and continue to be in a very poor and horrifying state.
The widespread public protests in Iran, the tragic and innocent death of Mahsa Amini, and now documented reports of the killing of dozens of innocent children during the protests have led to certain events in the Middle East, particularly various instances of human rights violations and inappropriate behaviors of Middle Eastern governments, being sidelined.
In recent days, Saudi Arabia has executed twelve individuals accused of drug trafficking by sword. Saudi judicial and religious authorities have no exceptions or considerations in issuing and executing death sentences, and they usually execute citizens of other countries with ease. In the recent series of executions, there were citizens from Syria, Jordan, and Pakistan. The number of executions recorded by human rights activists in Saudi Arabia has reached 132, and the actual number is naturally beyond these figures.
