Resignation of the Deputy Minister of Health or Raisi’s Show of Authority

Resignation of the Deputy Minister of Health or Raisi’s Show of Authority According to Iran Gate, despite the orders given by Ebrahim Raisi to supply the necessary medicine for the country, patients are currently facing a severe shortage of medicine. Observations from media and internal sources about the drug market indicate a severe shortage of medicine in recent weeks. For this reason, Ebrahim Raisi, after denying the existence of such a crisis, suddenly issued an order to meet the patients’ need for medicine. Although it was clear from the beginning that this order by Raisi would face the same fate as his other orders, it seems that the head of the thirteenth government does not know another way to deal with the country’s problems and crises.

Minister Copying Raisi’s Moves

Following Raisi’s order to supply the necessary medicine for patients, the Minister of Health of the thirteenth government immediately issued a similar order to his deputies. According to reports from domestic media, Bahram Einollahi, the Minister of Health and Treatment, had instructed Bahram Daraei, the Deputy of Food and Drug Administration of this ministry, to supply the medicinal items.

Farewell to Daraei

Despite Einollahi’s order to supply medicinal items as quickly as possible, Bahram Daraei immediately resigned from his position as the Deputy of Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health. This decision by Daraei, if it hadn’t coincided with street protests in Iran, could have caused a wave of concern in the drug market, although the same event caused price tensions in a market that is typically currently facing a drug shortage.

However, informed sources report that Daraei’s resignation was due to Raisi’s order to supply rare medicines as soon as possible. These observers refer to Raisi’s statements about the immediate resignation of inefficient managers. According to informed sources, the resignation of Abdolmaleki from the Ministry of Labor and the imminent resignation of Seyed Reza Fatemi Amin from the Ministry of Industry are also reactions imposed by Raisi on cabinet members to prove his authority.

Display of Authority by Mr. President

Similar statements have been heard from Raisi many times. Someone responsible for the health of people’s lives should have anticipated potential shortages. Why didn’t the pharmaceutical companies, which were obligated to produce, produce?

These statements are an example of Ebrahim Raisi’s usual approach to dealing with problems and crises. Apparently, cabinet members have also accepted that whenever a crisis occurs and they are unable to manage it, they should immediately resign to relieve the burden from the president’s shoulders. Of course, this action by officials will not go unrewarded, as Raisi has so far proven that any manager who resigns is appointed to a position of special importance in the country’s economy and governance.

In this case, Bahram Daraei has become a victim of Raisi’s display of authority in the public mind, so that the government can now blame the unavailability of medicine on the Deputy of Food and Drug Administration of the Ministry of Health and evade responsibility. Meanwhile, society has identified this government policy well and directly holds Ebrahim Raisi responsible.

In fact, even if the reason for a crisis like the shortage and unavailability of medicine is the inefficiency of the relevant manager, the direct responsibility lies with the Minister of Health. A minister who was proposed to the parliament by the president and indeed received a high vote of confidence from the revolutionary parliament to enter the ministry. Therefore, the responsibility for such a situation lies not only with Ebrahim Raisi but with the entire government, which has been emphasized as inefficient from the very beginning.

What is the Real Reason for the Unavailability of Medicine?

Observations from the drug market published in domestic media indicate the unavailability of foreign items. On the other hand, some medicines produced domestically are currently unavailable in the market. The reason for this is the restriction on paying the necessary funds for importing medicine into the country. Of course, there is another reason, which is the exploitation by importers and also producers of medicine from the current situation.

In other words, the players in the drug market are exploiting the health of society and taking advantage of the inefficiency of Raisi’s government to profit under the sanctions. The pharmaceutical industry in Iran, like some other sectors, has a very strange characteristic. Many producers also have permits to import medicine. In fact, it can be said that the producer and importer in Iran’s pharmaceutical industry are a constant stream, and no change is ever made in their composition.

Last year, simultaneously with the removal of preferential currency for medicine, this mafia group acted to empty the market of items needed by patients. In reality, these people, who are known as drug producers, took the health of people hostage to benefit once again from preferential currencies. Incidentally, this policy of the drug mafia worked, and the government was forced to provide the 4,200 toman dollar for the import of medicine and raw materials.

After this event, Ebrahim Raisi staged an attractive and exciting show and appeared at one of the drug sales and distribution centers. Raisi, who before this so-called unexpected visit had given the drug mafia the ransom they wanted, tried with a charismatic pose to convince the public that he has the ability to solve problems with direct presence in the field.

Currently, patients are facing a scenario similar to what happened last year. The producer or the same drug importer has resorted to blackmail and intends to exert pressure on the government to gain more concessions from Raisi and his team. The powerful lever they hold is emptying the market of medicines that are vital for many patients. Now Raisi has forced the Deputy Minister to resign.

Sources report of disagreements within the Ministry of Health regarding this decision by the president, but it seems the government will soon give the drug mafia the ransom they want so that it can display a show of efficiency and field presence with full authority.
