Reuters: Iran calls for practical action from the US; potential agreement not yet finalized
Reuters reported that on Friday, Iran stated it is awaiting practical actions from the US instead of statements and promises. Meanwhile, informed sources mention the examination of an initial agreement between Tehran and Washington to extend a ceasefire.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran’s chief negotiator, emphasized in a message that they do not trust guarantees and words, and only actions are the criteria. No action will be taken before the other party acts.
According to four informed sources, the discussed agreement includes a 60-day extension of the ceasefire, reopening the Strait of Hormuz for oil and gas exports, and beginning negotiations on Iran’s nuclear dossier.
Reuters, citing its sources, wrote that Donald Trump has not yet approved this agreement, and the Tasnim Agency also reported that the text of the memorandum has undergone changes in recent days and has not yet been finalized.
Meanwhile, Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, who is acting as a mediator in the negotiations, has arrived in Washington to meet with Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State.
Reuters also reported that the news of a potential agreement has led to a decrease in oil prices, and the markets have evaluated it as a significant step towards reducing tensions.
