Revocation of the Death Sentence for Mohammad Boroghni

Ebrahim Allahbakhshi, a former political prisoner, announced on his Twitter page that Mohammad Boroghni’s conviction for ‘waging war against God’ has been changed to one year of discretionary imprisonment and 74 lashes, and this was communicated to him today.

Mohammad Boroghni was arrested during the recent nationwide movement and on November 16, a court presided over by Judge Salavati accused him of setting fire to the Pakdasht governor’s office and attacking a government official causing injury, sentencing him to death for ‘waging war against God’.

Legal expert Saeed Dehghan also confirmed this news on Twitter, citing the breaking of silence, public solidarity with the detainees and their families, legal awareness, and political sponsorship as reasons for the revocation of Mohammad Boroghni’s death sentence.

Martin Diedenhofen, a member of the German parliament, had previously taken on the political sponsorship of Mohammad Boroghni.
