Riyadh will not normalize until a Palestinian state is formed

Saudi Arabia announced that it will never establish diplomatic relations with Israel until an independent Palestinian state is created

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a declaration, referring to the Riyadh and Washington negotiations regarding the Arab-Israeli peace process, that it has informed the U.S. government of its firm stance on this matter

Hours before the release of the Saudi Arabian statement, John Kirby, the White House National Security spokesperson, said that his government has received positive messages indicating that Riyadh and Tel Aviv are willing to continue negotiations on normalizing their relations

In its statement, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that diplomatic relations between this country and Israel will not be established unless an independent Palestinian state is recognized based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Israel’s aggression on the Gaza Strip is halted, and all Israeli occupying forces withdraw from the Gaza Strip
