Rubio: The Lebanon issue is separate from negotiations with Iran

Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, claimed that the Lebanon issue is separate from negotiations between Iran and the U.S. because Lebanon is considered an independent country.

He said Lebanon is an independent country, and the Lebanon issue is separate from Iran.

Rubio further claimed that the only connection Iran has with the Lebanon issue is Tehran’s support for its affiliated forces in this country.

The U.S. Secretary of State also emphasized that Washington directly pursues issues related to Lebanon with its government, and the future of Lebanon should be determined by its people and official institutions.

These statements come as a ceasefire in southern Lebanon and the halt of conflicts between Israel and Iran-backed forces have been one of the focal points of recent regional consultations.
