Rubio, the US Secretary of State, says non-engagement with Syria will lead to the failure of this government.

Marco Rubio, the US Secretary of State, said in the Senate that although Washington’s engagement with the Syrian government may or may not be effective, not engaging with this government will definitely lead to its failure.

Marco Rubio said that if you look at the history of this region, when Syria is unstable, the entire region becomes unstable as well, and this was clearly seen after the Arab Spring which led to the uprising against Assad.

These developments destabilized the entire region and effectively turned Syria into a playground for jihadist groups like ISIS and others, who used it to operate and destabilize regional partners.

The US Secretary of State added that in December we witnessed changes in Syria, and the bad news is that the FBI has not reviewed the backgrounds of the figures in the transitional government.

Yes, they had problems in the past and we know this.

Marco Rubio also said, but on the other hand, if we engage with them, it might work, and it might not.

However, if we do not engage with them, failure is absolutely certain.
