Russia warns NATO with nuclear threat: Moscow says blockade of Kaliningrad will not go unanswered
Russia has warned NATO that any attempt to blockade or cut off the Kaliningrad region from the rest of Russian territory could be met with a broad military response from Moscow. In a document sent to NATO, Moscow has stated that it is prepared to use all available forces and capacities, including nuclear weapons, if action is taken against Kaliningrad. Additionally, the document raises the possibility of attacks on decision-making centers of NATO member countries in the event of direct conflict. Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, also confirmed the delivery of this warning, saying its purpose was to remind what he called the ‘radicals in Europe’ of Russia’s nuclear policy. NATO has responded by describing these statements as irresponsible nuclear rhetoric and emphasized that the activities of the alliance in the region are defensive in nature.
