Saudi Arabia has become the largest foreign market for Turkish contractors
The Turkish Contractors Association, in its new report, states that Saudi Arabia has become the largest foreign market for the country’s contractors.
According to this report, which is published on the association’s website, Turkish contractors have undertaken the development of more than 161 new foreign projects, worth 118 billion dollars, in the first nine months of this year, of which 23 billion dollars pertain to Saudi Arabia.
The relations between the two countries had become severely turbulent following the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Saudi journalist critic, in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018, but relations between the two countries returned to normal two years ago.
The details of the statistics from this association show that Iran is not on the list of major foreign projects for Turkish contractors, even though a quarter of the foreign projects of Turkish contractors are related to the Middle East.
Statistics from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism also show that in the first eight months of this year, 655,000 Saudi tourists entered the country, which is 25 times the number during the same period in 2021.
