Sending SMS for Completion of Foreign Exchange Quota for Importers of Goods

Sending text messages about the end of foreign currency allocation for goods importers

The Hemmihan newspaper has reported, quoting several Iranian merchants, that text messages informing about the end of foreign currency allocation for goods importers have been sent to the country.

The newspaper on Monday, February 20, continued by stating that some importers who used non-exporters’ exchange rate had received a message from the Central Bank a few days ago stating that their request for currency allocation had been rejected due to the end of the currency quota.

Sending these text messages comes as some traders have told this newspaper that they generally did not receive quota currencies and their required currency was provided from the exporters’ currency held by the Central Bank in the form of drafts.

This report refers to the confusion of traders and says that they are now facing difficulties in obtaining currency for imported goods, and some of them cannot even clear goods that they have purchased on credit and imported through customs.

The significant increase in the exchange rate in the past week and the government’s inability to control it by injecting currency into the market have increased speculations about the shortage of currency in the country.
