A senior U.S. Treasury official departed for four countries to intensify economic pressure on Iran.
Edward Lawrence, a Fox Business reporter, reported that the U.S. Treasury Department has dispatched one of its senior officials to the UAE, Turkey, Oman, and the United Kingdom to consult with officials from these countries about intensifying economic pressure on Iran. According to this report, the discussions will focus on increasing cooperation to enforce U.S. sanctions, restricting financial and trade networks linked to Iran, and preventing the circumvention of sanctions. This trip coincides with the implementation of a new U.S. Treasury campaign called Operation Economic Outcast, a program that Washington has announced aims to cut off Iran’s access to international financial and trade networks.
