Seyyed Mohammad Khatami: Reformists should enhance their understanding of the people’s demands
The former president of our country emphasized in a message to the Fourth National Congress of the Veterans’ Assembly that the sovereignty of the people over their fate cannot be achieved except through the creation of an environment for expressing the people’s wants and demands, primarily independence and freedom, and the material and spiritual well-being of citizens, strengthening the country’s resilience against external threats and invasions, and also confronting the trampling of fundamental rights and freedoms of the people, and striving to eliminate the monster of corruption, depravity, injustice, and discrimination.
The request from reformist organizations is firstly to enhance their understanding and reception of public demands, and secondly, to open the door to dialogue, with the first condition being acceptance and tolerance of others, not imposing one’s desires and interpretations unilaterally on others, to find and travel the path of national understanding and exit from the crises that exist, and unfortunately, there are grounds for more of them to emerge.
