A ship carrying food supplies from Cyprus set sail for Gaza

A ship carrying food supplies from Cyprus has set sail for Gaza.

A vessel carrying nearly 200 tons of food supplies has departed from the port of Larnaca in Cyprus bound for Gaza.

This is the first aid shipment to move towards Gaza via a sea route.

According to the United Nations, one quarter of Gaza’s population is suffering from severe hunger.

After five months, the international community has still been unable to deliver enough food to Gaza by land and air.

It is still unclear how these sea-bound aids to Gaza will be transferred to land, although construction of a temporary dock has begun.
