Sahand naval ship sank

During the overturning of the Sahand ship, at least one military personnel from the Iranian Navy’s naval force of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been killed and buried in Shush city, Khuzestan province.

The ship’s captain, Saeed Khosravipour, was a member of the Iranian Navy, but it is not clear in which of the two incidents that occurred on different days the ship Sahand was killed.

Limited information has been provided about this incident and its details.

The Sahand ship overturned in Bandar Abbas on July 8, but two days later, Iranian media reported that the straps holding the ship in balance were broken, causing the Sahand to completely sink.

Iran claims that this ship, which is said to be the most advanced domestically built military ship, was put into operation in the Iranian Navy in 2018 and participated in events such as the Russian Navy Day in St. Petersburg and a joint military exercise with Russia.

The sinking of Sahand is the fourth incident for Iranian Navy ships from 2017 until now.
