Şimşek: The Iran war has increased Turkey’s inflation
Mehmet Şimşek, Turkey’s Finance Minister, said the US war against Iran has added between five to seven percentage points to the country’s annual inflation.
He added that without the occurrence of the war, Turkey’s inflation would have reached 21 to 22 percent by the end of 2026, but the government now predicts a rate of 284 percent. Şimşek emphasized that reducing living costs remains the government’s priority.
