South Korea requested an explanation from Iran regarding the attack on its ship in Hormuz.

South Korea announced that it has asked Iran to take a stance on the attack on a Korean cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry said that Cho Hyun, the country’s foreign minister, discussed shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz with Abbas Araghchi in a phone call, and both sides agreed to continue consultations.

Earlier, a South Korean official had said that the likelihood of a country other than Iran being responsible for the attack is low, although Tehran has denied this accusation.

According to Seoul, the cargo ship Achamam Namo was hit by two unidentified projectiles on May 4th, leading to a fire in the ship’s engine room.

South Korea says that surveillance cameras have captured images of the aircraft involved in the attack, but it has not been possible to accurately identify their type and origin.
