South Korea’s Foreign Minister is negotiating with the U.S. about arms relocation

Cho Hyun, South Korea’s Foreign Minister, announced that Seoul and Washington are negotiating the possibility of relocating weapons due to the intensifying war in the Middle East.

He explained that the operations of U.S. forces in South Korea are coordinated between the military officials of both countries and responded to questions about the relocation of equipment, including Patriot missile systems, but refrained from providing further details.

The South Korean Foreign Minister also emphasized that Washington has not yet requested Seoul’s support for military operations against Iran. South Korea hosts about 28,500 American soldiers and air defense equipment, and during the U.S. and Israel’s war with Iran, global energy and transportation sectors have been affected.
