Statement by the US and three European countries at the Board of Governors and a return to normalcy
The United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany have prepared a resolution for the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in which they call on the Iranian regime to fully cooperate with the agency and to answer questions regarding findings at three specific nuclear sites in Iran. This development symbolizes a return to the normal course of interactions between the West and Iran in nuclear negotiations.
Iran has already agreed to hold new talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency following the upcoming Board of Governors meeting. This should be seen as the Iranian regime’s acknowledgment of reality, as such interactions, like negotiating with the International Atomic Energy Agency, are among the few opportunities and international breathing spaces for the Iranian regime in the current global diplomatic equations.
Russia, and particularly Ulyanov, are angry about the resolution and the statements of the US and its allies. The reason for this anger is simple: the Russians desire further isolation of Iran and its dependence on them, and they view any opportunity for Iran to engage with the West as a threat to their dominance and exploitation.
