Summoning of the Russian Ambassador to South Korea’s Foreign Ministry
The South Korean government has formally protested to Russia regarding its recent partnership agreement with North Korea.
According to reports, South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian ambassador in Seoul.
Meanwhile, South Korean officials have asked Moscow to immediately halt military cooperation with Pyongyang.
The South Korean government’s statement declares that any direct or indirect cooperation aiding Pyongyang in expanding its military capabilities is considered a violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In this context, South Korea’s Foreign Ministry has also warned about the potential negative consequences for its relations with Russia.
Putin has recently hinted at the possibility of sending weapons to North Korea.
At the same time, the U.S. State Department has also assessed this issue as very concerning.
