Suspicious Death of Mansoureh Sagvand in Iran
Official authorities in Iran have reported the death of a female student who previously collaborated as a volunteer with the Iranian police. Some sources describe her death as suspicious, stating that the young woman ceased her collaboration with the police after last autumn’s protests and supported the protesters. For this reason, she was detained for a while and even threatened with death. The head of the judiciary in Ilam Province has denied her summons or detention.
Emergency services in the city of Abdanan in Ilam Province and the officials of Hazrat Rasool Akram Hospital in this city confirmed the death of 18-year-old Mansoureh Sagvand, a law student at Payam Noor University of Abdanan, on the night of Sunday, June 4th, stating that the cause of her death was cardiac and respiratory arrest.
Tasnim News Agency, which is close to security sources in Iran, also reported on Monday, June 5th, quoting the governor of Khorramabad, that this girl’s connection with the police force was confirmed and said that she was not an employee of the police force and only collaborated as a police assistant for a short period in the past.
