Sweden’s investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline explosion has concluded
Swedish prosecutors announced in a statement on Wednesday, February 7, that further investigations into the explosions on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines will be halted. According to these officials, since Swedish judicial authority will not be applied in the proceedings, they are ending the investigation. The multi-billion dollar Nord Stream gas pipelines, which transported Russian gas from the depths of the Baltic Sea to Germany, were damaged in September 2022 due to a series of explosions in Swedish and Danish waters, releasing large amounts of methane.
Danish police and Swedish investigators confirmed that based on traces of explosives found at the site, it was definitely an act of sabotage.
Sweden, Denmark, and Germany launched separate investigations into the Nord Stream explosions, with Denmark and Germany’s investigations still ongoing.
No conclusive evidence has yet been found in any of the investigations to explain the details of this act of sabotage.
